DRONE SURVEYS
Drone Surveys
Drone services included at OTM are roof surveys, internal/external promotion videos, aerial photography & video. After using the drone to accomplish the task we then use technology to collect visual data and present it in a digestible and user-friendly format.
OTM also provide a very cost effective and a quick solution for UAV aerial building surveys compared to more expensive traditional methods of scaffolding, platforms, steeplejacks or hiring a cherry picker. No one leaves the ground, so you do not have to worry about the HSE – “Working at Height” health and safety regulations.
OTMs new drone method is an advantage when it comes to surveying as the roof of a building is usually one of the most difficult areas to survey. There are several items that are traditionally required for surveyors to complete an in-depth report. Even then you still can’t achieve the angles and overviews that a drone survey allows. The equipment used traditionally can also come with associated time and expense. There are also issues of working at height that may cause definite risk to life or serious injury to our employees, no matter what the situation. However, at OTM we work smarter to produce faster, cheaper, and more accurate data for you and your clients.
By carrying out a drone survey, we can complete a task that would consume unnecessary amounts of time into much smaller time frames. Not only that, but we also accomplish this with fewer staff who can reach parts of the roof that you could never dream of when using old-style surveying methods.
This is very useful if the roof or structure is unsound or has difficult or complex access. We can do high level aerial surveys from ground level to 120m and distance of 500m.
Drone Survey Benifits
You can also stand with us and monitor the video on the ground in real time as we fly, so you know we are getting the exact images you are looking for. In half a day we can cover a large surveying area. Our drones we use will fly between 20 to 30 minutes before having to land to change the battery.
At OTM we believe there is always a better way, whether it’s helping our customers acquire inspection data to make better business decisions safer and quicker than traditional means.
We also believe in giving our clients value from our services by supporting them with the right solution for their needs at the right time, and having long term valued clients who we continue to provide value to year after year.
We carry 2 spare pre-charged batteries on each survey which only takes a few minutes to change and get back in air. This allows us to be able to fly for longer if needed as the 3 batteries together provide a total flight time of one hour and a half with very little disruption.
All our clients have access to their survey report, video, and images through email by using the download link provided so you can view on your own laptop, tablet, or PC.
You can zoom in to inspect cladding, gutters, asbestos, and roof valleys for full analysis in your own time and in your own office.
Our risk assessment will be done prior to our arrival on site, to ensure strict safety procedures and the safety of the public at the flight location. It only takes around 5 to 10 minutes to analyse the flight area and set up the drone on site for flight.
Drone Information
At OTM we use a Small Unmanned Aircraft (‘SUA’), either commercially or recreationally. Our pilot is required to comply with the basic regulations from the CAA unless otherwise approved by the CAA.
The main operational conditions for an SUA are:
- Maintaining a distance of 50m from people and property not in control of the pilot.
- During take-off and landing maintain a distance of 30m from people and property not in control of the pilot.
- Permission of the landowner to take off and land.
- Do not fly directly overhead or within a minimum distance of 150m from an open-air assembly of over 1000 people.
- Fly a maximum height of 400ft above ground level.
- Maintain visual line of sight of the SUA to a maximum distance of 500m.
- Fly during daylight hours, so that you can clearly see the SUA and take avoiding action from other air users if required.
- Outside of controlled airspace.
- Restrictions apply to certain areas of Central London and additional permissions to fly in these areas need to be sought from the CAA.
- Restrictions and rules apply to flying near an airport and aerodrome.
Contact us to discuss pricing for multisite regular contract aerial inspections.
There are a few examples above showing previous sites where we have done a survey or overview of jobs done for our clients revealing gutter and roof conditions or just purely advertisement footage with the ability to zoom in to individual high-definition images so that you may gain an idea of what you will get for using our services.
